Today, according to the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, US Navy destroyer Donald Cook left the Cypriot port of Larnaca, where it was moored, to approach the Syrian territorial waters. The same source also speaks of some Russian jets which would have flown 4 times the US warship, making disturbing maneuvers while approaching the Syrian territory. It would have arrived about 100 kilometers from the Syrian port of Tartus, where a base of the Russian navy is situated.
Meanwhile, in New York, the United Nations Security Council met to discuss the chemical attack and the new situation of tension that is being created in Syria. In the margins of the meeting, the US presented a draft resolution providing for the establishment of a UN commission to identify those responsible for the chemical attacks in Syria. Indeed, the American strategy is the alleged reaction to the attack of April 8 when the Syrian central government stoke in Duma with chemical weapons of causing at least 100 deaths and one thousand injured. These events immediately turn into a case of international politics, with the US asking the Russians to abandon Bachar al Assad. « President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing Animal Assad. Great price…. » wrote US President Donald Trump on Twitter.
