Recently, The US imposed sanctions to Iran after leaving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. The accord’s purpose was to limit Iran’s nuclear activities while there were granted sanctions relief. The UK, China, France, Germany and Russia want to set up a system to maintain business with Iran and to bypass US sanctions. The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo declared on Tuesday, September 25, being ‘deeply disappointed’ by the announcement of the creation of a European mechanism whose objective is to allow the foreign countries and companies to escape United States sanctions against Iran. The US messaging underscored tensions with Europe. The United States are against such a project condemning it as ‘the most counterproductive measures imaginable’. In fact, the United States who have been arguing for military action against Iran in the past, want to enforce economic sanctions against it. The European project was unveiled Monday night by the European Union after a meeting with representatives of Iran, China and Russia on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. These countries are signatories to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and Donald Trump, withdrew from it in May, reinstating all US sanctions against Tehran.
