Tuesday 30th of october, Washington, through its defence secratary Jim Mattis and the Secratary of State Pompeo, stated officially that the war must be ended forthwith. More specifically, the air strikes conducted by the coalition led by Saoudi Arabia should stop. Washington claims for, in the next 30 days, the opening of a peace negociation process. Therefore Houthies and Iranian side should be first to get in contact with the other side. Such an annoucement is important because since the beginning of the war in march 2015, the US always stood by the Saoudi Arabia coalition (US participated to the multilateleral coalition through logistic support).

Mr Pompeo is ready to act and further simple words. He is committed to « implement confidence-building measures to address the underlying issues of the conflict, the demilitarisation of borders and the concentration of all large weapons under international observation »

It is important to notice that neither Mr Mattis neither Mr Pompeo mentioned the recent murder of Jamal Khashoggi which has already affected the credibility of Saoudi Arabia.

At least, we can assume that the recent images published in the New York Times showing the devastation of war and hunger in Yemen, a cruel reality to face in the eyes affecting more than 150 000 people, touched the american citizens, and as well often, the public emotions carry out foreign policy actions.
