The US President Donald Trump, gave an interview to The Washington Post, where he threatened to cancel his meeting, scheduled this weekend with Putin at the G20 summit in Argentina. The US President said that he was waiting for a “full report” from his national security advisers, whose conclusions would be “very determinative”. Trump added that “maybe [he] won’t have the meeting [with Mr Putin]” and that “[he] won’t even have the meeting” because of last Sunday’s events, when Russian ships fired on and seized three Ukrainian boats. He qualified the Russian move as an act of “aggression” and urged European nations to do more to support Ukraine. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, said that the seizure of Ukrainian ships is a « dangerous escalation and a violation of international law ». There have been reactions amongst European leaders and especially from the UK, claiming that Russia could undertake a “destabilizing behavior in the region” and that Ukrainian territorial sovereignty is under ‘ongoing violation’.
