A man has opened fire in the French city of Strasbourg near the city’s world-famous Christmas market, 2 people have been killed and 14have been wounded, nine of them seriously. The shooting happened on Tuesday at 7:50 pm local time. French interior minister, Christophe Castaner, explained that the gunman exchanged gunshots with the police before fleeing the crime scene. The suspect, who has been identified is reportedly injured and at large. Over 350police officers have been deployed as part of a manhunt. France’s security alert level has been raised to « emergency attack » with « the implementation of reinforced border controls and tightened controls on all Christmas markets in France to avoid the risk of a copycat » according to to the interior minister.
