Frank Magnitz, the leader of Alternative for Germany (AfD) was attacked on Monday in the northern city of Bremen. He has been knocked inconscious and severely beaten by three masked men after having left a reception in the city’s art museum.
In just a few years, the AfD party has become a key actor in the German political scene. It is the first time since 1945 that a far-right party entered the national parliament. Today, it counts 94 seats and has representatives in every German state parliament.
